Purpose: Takamiya Mariver aims to contribute to the improvement of the living environment and to residents' welfare by protecting Kitakyushu's rivers and encouraging the preservation of aquatic life.

Activities

Beautification and clean-up of rivers in Kitakyushu City

Beautification of more than 300 rivers including the Murasaki river area running through the city, to protect the waterside environment.

Cooperation and support with river protection groups (the Mariver Aid)

We offer subsidies to groups which contribute to projects that work towards our goals, such as environmental protection or protection of aquatic life etc. We are widely looking for groups to offer our subsidies to, so please feel free to contact us if you are interested, and do projects that work towards our goals to protect the environment.

●Examples of our subsidies

Clean-up activities and releasing young fish, breeding and releasing fireflies and Semisulcospira libertina (a small snail), research of aquatic life, canoe festivals, fishing festivals, having classes at waterside areas

Promotion of the interaction between youth and nature at waterside areas

Takamiya Mariver offers an opportunity for young people to interact with the natural water side environment, in order to contribute to personality development and promote understanding of the importance of nature conservation.

Research and study about Ice Goby

Research and study about Japanese Rosy Bitterling

Protection and breeding of fishing resources in ocean areas, plus beautification of the coastlines' environment

Releasing of Black Porgy, Sea-Bream and Japanese Flounder to Hibiki-nada, Suou-nada, and Kanmon kaikyo ocean areas, plus clean-up activities on coastlines that are more than 200 kilometers long in Kitakyushu.
